“What was the political role of Art in the past as well as in our current globalized society?”
My research will focus around five major themes:
In each of the three countries, I will visit leading museums housing the masterpieces of the past, monuments and museums, iconic architecture, while also exploring the cutting edge contemporary art scene.
My hope is to use this space to develop a curriculum addressing the intersection of art and politics. During my research trip, I will be keeping a daily journal of observations and insights. Upon my return, I will be spending the rest of my summer organizing all of my collected materials into resources here that can be used by educators under a creative commons license. It is my hope to offer a senior seminar on this subject at my school, Maggie L. Walker Governor's School.
I invite you to join in the discussion below...
- freedom of expression
- propaganda
- reaction to conflicts
- “the International Stage”
- participatory role of art in shaping society and politics
